What to Do With the Sunflower

Answer. Fill the clear mug at the Office cooler, water the plant in the lower left, take the sunflower, and trade it to the character on the bench for a wrench.

This is the puzzle I trust most. Steam's 1.04 notes say the sunflower failed to spawn, and that you should re-enter the room if an old save still lacks it. The walkthrough describes the same mug-and-plant chain.

  1. Mug. Fill the clear mug at the water cooler.
  2. Plant. Water the lower-left plant.
  3. Trade. Give the sunflower to the bench character for the wrench.
  4. Old save. If the flower never appears, leave and re-enter after patch 1.04 or later.

Why the wrench matters

The Basic Text Walkthrough uses the wrench inside the water cooler to retrieve the pipe key. That key opens the blast doors toward the core route.

I checked the patch date as 30 July 2026 for 1.04, from the Steam news list.

Questions I keep seeing

The plant stays bare. Now what?

Patch past 1.04 and re-enter the room. The note says a stale save can still miss the spawn.
